A.I.M. by Yorick Phlypo
Type a word on a computer keyboard. Watch your word appear on a
horizontal rasterized surface. And play with the word image by means
of touching the surface. Or let someone else play with it. One word
after the other, as you prefer.
A.I.M. (Almost Interesting Messaging) is an interface-in-progress,
which has arisen as a component of my graduation project. A flexible
bridge between touch and typographical words.
The installation mainly consists of a computer keyboard, a horizontal
surface from wood and acrylic glass, piezoelectric sensors and a
projector. An interface, connected to a computer, links all of them
together.
Using the keyboard, the words are brought in. The projector places
these words virtually on the surface. The software Pure Data and
Processing are used to send these words to the projector, and to make
them liable to contact on the surface.

nOtbOt by Walter Langelaar
“Walter Langelaar’s “nOtbOt” is a self-playing videogame; to be specific, it is
a mechanized Logitech “Wingman Force” joystick that has its robotic maneuvers
projected in real-time in front of it. In certain ways, Langelaar’s installation
recalls the similarly automated works of Paul Johnson, but where Johnson’s games
are vacuum-sealed, seen but not touched, “nOtbOt” allows viewers to actually
grab hold of the controller. In the process of trying to, as Langelaar cleverly
puts it, “get a grip” on the device, players confront their own metaphoric role
in a feedback loop that no longer requires them – where the real object of
obsolescence is not the technology, but the players themselves.”

GODMODE by Tim Knapen
Tim Knapen wanted to become an inventor,
studied some architecture,
some engineering, studied a little bit of interaction design in Frankfurt,
worked a little for ART+COM in Berlin to learn more about ‘interactive
art’ and finally graduated at Sint Lucas Antwerp with his first
invention ‘GODMODE’.
Tim is 1/4 of a mad design crew called ‘Indianen’, which he co-founded
with Walter Bosschaert, Stone Holsbeeks and Andy Depauw.
While making crazy plans with ‘Indianen’, he’s also drawing
illustrations & comics at Studio Vitalski, next to building websites,
hacking up installations & creating visuals for trash-kids-label
NONONOISE, etc, etc…
And he’s also a ninja.
